John Joseph "Jack" Robertson was born with a congenital heart defect known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). HLHS is a defect where the left side of the heart—the aorta, aortic valve, left ventricle and the mitrial valve— is underdeveloped. To correct his heart defect, Jack will eventually have a three-staged surgical procedure. He had the first stage when he was ten days old; his second surgery was March 23, 2006; and his third surgery will take place when he is almost three years old.
This website was created to document Jack's progress, to provide information about HLHS and hopefully to serve as an inspiration to other heart children and their parents.
